Product Description

High-elastic Sbs Modified Bitumen Membrane To Reduce Roof Leakage Risk

Product Introduction

Sand‑surfaced SBS Elastomer‑modified Bitumen Waterproof Membrane adopts elastomer‑modified petroleum bitumen as the coating compound and polyester mat as the reinforcement base. The upper surface of the membrane is covered with uniform mineral granule protective layer, while the bottom side is heat‑fusible bitumen surface. It is mainly applied by hot‑melt method, and is one of the most widely‑used exposed waterproof membranes for flat roofs, sloped roofs and old roof renovation projects.

The sand layer directly resists UV radiation and rain erosion. Thanks to SBS modification, the bitumen matrix obtains rubber‑like elasticity to accommodate temperature variation and substrate deformation of roofs. It can be exposed directly without additional cement‑mortar protective layer, and is widely applied in roof waterproofing for factories, residential and commercial buildings. For general roof projects, 4mm polyester mat Type‑II grade is commonly selected, with low‑temperature flexibility down to ‑25℃, suitable for roof conditions in most regions.

Advantages for Roof Application

  1. UV‑resistant for direct exposed use The surface mineral sand layer blocks ultraviolet rays and prevents bitumen from photo‑aging under sunlight, greatly improving outdoor weathering resistance. No cement‑mortar protective layer is required after roof construction, which shortens construction period and reduces project cost.
  2. Excellent elasticity against roof cracking SBS modification endows the membrane with high elongation capacity to counteract thermal expansion‑contraction and slight settlement of concrete roof substrates. It can bridge fine substrate cracks and lower leakage risks caused by roof cracking. It keeps non‑brittle at low temperature and no flowing or slipping under high‑temperature sunlight.
  3. High mechanical performance, puncture‑proof and walkable Polyester mat base delivers good tensile, tear‑resistant and puncture‑resistant properties. It is not easy to get damaged during roof inspection and pedestrian access. The sand‑finished surface is anti‑slip for convenient later‑stage roof maintenance.
  4. Hot‑melt overlapping for integral waterproof layer Constructed by hot‑melt welding. Bitumen at overlapping seams fuses into an integrated structure with reliable sealing, minimizing water channeling risk. The waterproof system features high integrity and dependability, and is workable in most seasons.
  5. Good bonding performance compatible with subsequent structures Rough sand surface forms firm interlock with mortar, thermal insulation and slope‑making layers. Hollowing and delamination seldom occur when constructing overlying protective layers or finishing layers.
  6. Cost‑effective with broad engineering adaptability Proven stable material with sufficient supply. It fits new roof construction as well as old roof repair and renovation, compatible with various substrates. It can work as single waterproof course or combine with waterproof coatings to form composite waterproof systems to meet different waterproof grade requirements.

Construction Note

For overlapping seams, internal/external corners, equipment bases and other detailed positions, sand particles on overlapping areas shall be ground and removed to ensure complete bitumen fusion and sealing, so as to avoid leakage hazards caused by sand trapped inside joints.
