Product Description

Self-healing Self-adhesive Polymer Modified Bitumen Waterproof Membrane

Construction Technology for 3mm Polyester‑reinforced Self‑adhesive Polymer‑modified Bitumen Waterproof Membrane

Construction Process

Substrate Treatment → Apply Primer (Optional) → Snap Reference Lines & Pre‑laying → Reinforcement for Details → Large‑area Membrane Rolling Installation → Lap Joint Treatment → End‑sealing → Water‑storing Test → Protective Layer Construction

1. Substrate Treatment

  1. Substrate shall be concrete or cement‑mortar leveling layer, solid and flat, free of sanding, hollowing, loose parts and sharp protrusions.
  2. Make R50 arcs at internal and external corners. Repair pipe roots, post‑pouring belts and construction joints in advance.
  3. Damp substrate is acceptable, no standing water allowed. Remove dust, gravel and oil stains thoroughly.

2. Primer Application (Optional)

Apply matching primer evenly on dry substrate. Start installation after primer is fully dry and non‑tacky. Primer can be omitted for damp substrate.

3. Marking & Pre‑laying

Snap reference lines according to membrane width. Long‑side lap ≥100 mm, short‑side lap ≥100 mm. Pre‑lay to adjust position, release stress and re‑roll to avoid wrinkles and offset.

4. Reinforcement for Details

Lay homogeneous additional reinforcement layer for weak leaking‑prone positions: internal‑external corners, pipe roots, water outlets, construction joints and post‑pouring belts. Width of additional layer ≥500 mm, fully bonded and compacted before large‑area construction.

5. Large‑area Membrane Rolling Installation (Cold Self‑adhesive Method)

  1. Peel off bottom release film, align with reference lines and roll forward while peeling film. Do not over‑stretch membrane.
  2. Roll with rubber roller from center to both sides to exhaust air completely for full bonding without hollowing.
  3. Install from low to high for horizontal surface; install from bottom to top for vertical surface. Metal battens and fasteners can be used for vertical installation. Fastener points shall be fully covered and sealed by membrane.

6. Lap Joint Treatment

  1. Remove release film on lap zone, align membranes and roll repeatedly with roller. Slight bitumen squeeze‑out is preferred.
  2. Seal all lap edges with compatible sealing compound. Repair warped or open joints.
  3. Stagger membrane joints to avoid cross‑joints.

7. End‑sealing

Fix membrane ends on vertical wall / parapet wall with metal pressure battens and seal completely with sealing compound to prevent water ingress.

8. Water‑storing Test

After waterproofing completion, perform water‑storing test for horizontal areas. Keep water for 24‑48 hours. No leakage is qualified.

9. Protective Layer Construction

This is non‑exposed membrane. Construct protective layer after acceptance. Pour fine aggregate concrete for underground slab; apply cement‑mortar protective layer for roof. Long‑term direct sunlight exposure is forbidden.

Construction Notes

  1. Cold‑applied only. Open‑flame heating is forbidden. Stop construction in rainy, foggy, dew‑covered weather or wind ≥Grade 5.
  2. Increase rolling pressure under low‑temperature condition. Slight hot‑air heating for lap joints is permitted, high‑temperature burning is forbidden.
  3. Suitable construction temperature: 5‑35℃. Avoid foot traffic and sharp damage within 24 hours after completion.
  4. Store membranes vertically, keep away from sunlight and moisture. Prevent extrusion damage to release film.
