Product Description

Fabric Reinforced Epdm Waterproofing Membrane

Construction Procedure for EPDM Rubber Waterproof Membrane

Common methods: full‑bonding, loose‑lay, mechanical fastening. Cold installation without open‑flame

1. Substrate Preparation

Make substrate solid, flat and dry. Remove dust, oil stains and sharp protrusions. Repair cracks and pits with polymer mortar. Form circular arcs R≥50 mm at internal / external corners. Compact areas around pipe roots, water outlets and deformation joints. Substrate moisture content ≤9%, no standing water. Apply matching primer for sand‑loose substrate.

2. Apply Base Primer

Apply matching base primer evenly without missing spots or thick accumulation. Focus coating on detailed positions. Proceed to next step when primer is dry‑to‑touch.

3. Additional Layer for Details

Install same‑material additional layers at internal‑external corners, pipe penetrations, through‑wall pipes, water outlets, deformation joints and post‑pouring belts. Width ≥500 mm, bond tightly without hollowing or wrinkles.

4. Marking‑out & Pre‑laying

Snap reference lines according to membrane width plus lap width. Unroll membrane and relax for 30 min to release internal stress. For roof: lay membrane parallel to roof ridge, start from eaves toward ridge; laps follow water flow direction.

5. Apply Special Adhesive

Coat matching adhesive evenly on both substrate and membrane back. Reserve 80‑100 mm lap zone without adhesive. Uniform coating, avoid missing coating or adhesive accumulation.

6. Open Time (Flash‑off)

Flash‑off for 30‑60 min until tacky‑dry to finger touch. Do not bond too early or too late.

7. Membrane Laying & Air‑rolling

Lay membrane along reference lines. Roll from center toward edges to expel air fully. No hollowing or wrinkles allowed.

8. Lap Joint Treatment

Long‑side lap ≥100 mm; short‑side lap ≥150 mm. Clean lap zone with special cleaner, apply lap adhesive. Bond after flash‑off and roll thoroughly with seam roller. Stagger adjacent seams at least 1/3 membrane width.

9. Termination Fixing & Sealing

Insert membrane end into groove, fasten with metal termination bars and seal tightly with sealant. Complete flashing and drip details for exposed roof to prevent edge curling and leakage.

10. Inspection, Repair & Water Test

Full inspection of membrane; repair damages, curled edges and joint defects. Carry out water‑spray test for roof; water‑closing test for basement floor to verify no leakage.

11. Protective Layer Construction

Apply protective coating for exposed roof. Construct fine‑aggregate concrete or polystyrene board protective layer promptly for buried and underground areas, avoid direct mechanical damage.

Construction Environmental Notes

Suitable temperature: 5℃‑35℃. Stop construction in rainy weather, standing‑water substrate or wind ≥Grade 5. Ambient humidity ≤85%.

Construction Notes

1 Substrate shall be solid, dry and flat with moisture ≤9%. Make R50 mm rounded corners and install same‑material additional layers at details.
2 Use special EPDM adhesive, coat on both sides. Bond when tacky‑dry to finger touch. Ordinary bitumen adhesive is forbidden.
3 Pre‑relax membrane for 30 min to release stress. Long lap ≥100 mm, short lap ≥150 mm. Roll seams fully.
4 Working temperature: 5‑35℃. Stop work in rain, dew or wind ≥Grade5. Keep ventilation and fire safety for adhesives.
5 Protect finished membrane from sharp puncture. Apply protective layer after inspection and carry out water test.
