Product Description

Torch-on Sbs Waterproof Membrane For Old Roof Repair & Renovation

Advantages of Sand‑surfaced SBS Elastomer‑modified Bitumen Waterproof Membrane

  1. Direct‑exposed application without cement‑mortar protective layer The top mineral sand layer provides physical protection against UV radiation and weathering, allowing direct exposure on roof. PE‑faced SBS, common self‑adhesive membranes and polypropylene‑fabric membranes cannot be exposed outdoor and require additional protective layers. It saves material, labor and construction time, reducing overall roof cost.
  2. Superior low‑temperature elasticity for cold‑climate regions SBS elastomer modification delivers rubber‑like flexibility, with low‑temperature flexibility down to ‑25℃ for Type‑II grade. APP modified bitumen is more plastic with poor low‑temperature performance around‑15℃. Sand‑surfaced SBS performs better to bridge substrate cracks under large temperature variation in cold zones.
  3. High mechanical property, puncture‑resistant and walkable for roof maintenance Polyester mat provides high tensile, tear and nail‑shank tearing strength. It resists damage from foot traffic and tool impact during roof inspection. Ordinary self‑adhesive membranes have lower mechanical strength; single‑coat waterproof coatings are thin and vulnerable to puncture. The sand‑finished surface is anti‑slip for convenient maintenance.
  4. Integrated hot‑melt laps for reliable waterproof performance Bitumen fuses together at hot‑melt overlaps for monolithic seams. Bonding of cold‑applied self‑adhesive products is sensitive to dust and moisture on substrate. Coating systems suffer from uneven film thickness. Hot‑melt SBS guarantees stable seam quality for large‑area industrial and commercial roofs.
  5. Rough sand surface creates firm interlock with overlying structures Rough mineral‑sand surface forms good mechanical interlock with cement mortar, slope‑making layer and thermal insulation layer, minimizing hollowing and delamination. Smooth‑surface PE‑membranes, TPO and PVC have low bonding affinity with mortar and require special primers or mechanical fastening.
  6. Excellent material compatibility with non‑curing bitumen coating Being bitumen‑based material, it fuses perfectly with hot non‑curing rubber‑bitumen coating to realize full‑bond anti‑water‑channeling system. TPO / PVC polymer membranes are chemically incompatible with bitumen‑based products and cannot be directly combined with non‑curing bitumen coatings.
  7. Cost‑effective with abundant supply and wide engineering adaptability Compared with high‑end polymer membranes such as TPO, PVC and polyurea, sand‑surfaced SBS enjoys stable raw‑material supply and lower material & installation cost. Experienced construction teams are widely available. It fits most civil and industrial roof projects for new construction and renovation.
  8. Stable resistance to water immersion, salt‑spray and mildew Bitumen matrix maintains stable performance under long‑term water soaking and humid environment. Many exposed liquid coatings tend to chalk and degrade under UV exposure and require frequent re‑coating.
  9. Flexible for different waterproof grades, single‑layer or composite system 4 mm sand‑surfaced SBS can serve as single main waterproof layer for Grade‑Ⅱ roof waterproofing. Combined with non‑curing coating, it meets Grade‑Ⅰ roof waterproof requirement. It can be used alone or as weather‑resistant top layer in composite waterproof assemblies.
  10. Well‑suited for old‑roof renovation It can be laid directly over existing bitumen‑based old waterproof layers without full removal. Polymer membranes demand strict substrate flatness and heavy re‑preparation work for aged roofs.
