Construction Process and Notes for Sand‑surfaced Self‑adhesive Membrane

Construction Process

1. Substrate Treatment The substrate shall be flat and solid, free of sanding, hollowing and sharp corners. Make R50 arcs at internal and external corners. Remove dust, gravel and oil stains. The substrate may be damp but no standing water is allowed. Repair cracks and holes in advance.
2. Marking Positioning Snap reference lines according to membrane width to define lap positions. Long‑side lap ≥80 mm, short‑side lap ≥100 mm. Clean fine sand in lap area of sand‑surfaced membrane in advance to ensure reliable lap bonding.
3. Detail Reinforcement Layer Installation Lay additional reinforcement layer for weak areas including internal & external corners, pipe roots, construction joints and post‑pouring belts. The width of additional layer shall be no less than 500 mm. Carry out large‑area construction afterwards.
4. Membrane Rolling Installation Peel off silicone oil paper release film on membrane bottom. Align with reference lines and roll forward while peeling the film. Do not over‑stretch the membrane to avoid wrinkles. Use rubber roller to roll from center towards both sides to exhaust air and prevent hollowing.
5. Lap Joint Treatment Remove release film on lap sections and roll thoroughly for compaction. Residual sand particles in lap zone will cause bonding failure. Inspect all lap edges after installation. Seal warped or open joints with sealing compound.
6. Protective Layer Construction Sand‑surfaced self‑adhesive membrane is non‑exposed material. Construct protective layer promptly after waterproof layer acceptance. Pour fine aggregate concrete protective layer for underground base slab; apply cement‑mortar protective layer for roof. Long‑term direct sunlight exposure is forbidden.

Technical Specifications

Notes

1. It is cold‑applied membrane. Open‑flame torching is strictly prohibited.
2. Stop construction in rainy days, heavy fog or dew‑covered substrate.
3. Increase roller compaction pressure under low‑temperature condition to guarantee bonding effect.
4. Fine sand on top surface only provides foot‑traffic resistance during construction, not for weather‑resistant exposed usage.
5. Avoid scratching membrane with sharp tools. Cut and repair damaged parts timely.
6. Store membrane away from moisture and sunlight. Stack vertically to prevent release film from extrusion damage.
